Trio of Rangers Sign Together at Mississippi College

CLINTON – A trio of Northwest Rangers will continue their baseball careers together, as outfielder Kyle Blount, pitcher/first baseman Chris Casto and third baseman Keaton Hankins have all signed together to play for head coach Brian Owens at Mississippi College.
Blount, from Independence, played in 38 career games in the outfield (29 starts). Blount committed just two errors in 55 career chances and was also credited with three outfield assists. A .211 lifetime hitter, Blount nearly doubled his production in every statistical category during his sophomore campaign. He earned Capital One Academic All-District honors and was named MACJC Academic All-State.
Casto, a native of Olive Branch, played in 45 career games (30 starts) at first base, on the mound and in the designated hitter spot. Casto hit .286 this past season with four doubles, five home runs and 19 RBIs and is a .244 career hitter. He also went 3-6 on the mound with a 3.91 ERA in 73.1 career innings of work, striking out 45 against 22 walks.
Hankins, also of Olive Branch, hit .316 over his two seasons for Northwest with three doubles, six home runs and 23 RBIs and played in 40 career games (28 starts). Hankins also slugged .531 and stole 10-of-11 career bases.
Mississippi College, an NCAA Division III member, competes in the American Southwest Conference. The Choctaws are coming off a 21-24 season and appearance in the ASC Championship Tournament.
