Sarah is the daughter of Michael and Margaret Prophet of Cedar Falls, Iowa. Sarah is an oboe player and a student of Sam Kreassig and Diana Blake.
Raquel Williams of Northern University High School has attained the highest individual honor available to Iowa high school musicians by being selected as a member of the 2010 All-State Orchestra. Raquel is the daughter of Grace Valdez & Richard Williams. She studies violin with Mary Grey & Therese Fetter.
Jyothi Dhanwada of Northern University High School has attained the highest individual honor available to Iowa high school musicians by being selected as a member of the 2010 All-State Orchestra. Jyothi is the daughter of Kavita & Ram Dhanwada. She studies violin with Mary Grey & Therese Fetter.
JoAnna Griffith of Northern University High School has attained the highest individual honor available to Iowa high school musicians by being selected as a member of the 2010 All-State Choir. JoAnna is the daughter of Joe and Melanie Griffith of Cedar Falls, Iowa. JoAnna is a soprano and a student of Tim Purdum and Dr. Les Hale.
Rachel Hanson of Northern University High School has attained the highest individual honor available to Iowa high school musicians by being selected as a member of the 2010 All-State Choir. Rachel is the daughter of Jeff and Marsha Hanson of Cedar Falls, Iowa. Rachel is an alto and a student of Tim Purdum.
The 201 Festival will celebrate the 64th anniversary of this prestigious event. District Auditions for the 279-piece All-State Band, 198-piece All-State Orchestra, and 601-member All-State Chorus were held Saturday, October 23rd, 2010 at six locations across Iowa. Approximately 17% of the students who audition are selected for membership in the All-State ensembles. Participants will rehearse in Ames on Friday and Saturday, November 19 and 20, and the Festival concert will be presented to the public at 7:30 PM in Holton Coliseum, Iowa State University, Ames, on Saturday evening, November 20, 2010. Iowa Public Television will record the concert for re-broadcast scheduled for Thursday, November 25th at 7:00 pm and Sunday, November 28th at 5:30 pm.
