NS girls' varsity basketball coach's future uncertain

The North Scott School Board was set this past Monday night to decide on the future of North Scott varsity girls' basketball coach Larry Schroeder, but action was put off at the last moment at the meeting when it was pulled from the agenda.
Listed under the board agenda's personnel section – found under the "consent agenda" heading – was "Notice of Non-Renewal of Contract" for Schroeder, who had served as the head varsity coach since the 2006-2007 season. But for whatever reason, it was pulled.
The North Scott Press reported in its Wednesday, March 14, issue that Schroeder addressed the board "with the intent to try and sway the board’s decision."
Schroeder went 66-67 in his six years as coach. His best year was 2008-2009, when his team went 15-8 and advanced to the regional semifinals. On that night, the Lancers almost became the lone Mississippi Athletic Conference team to upend a Mississippi Valley Conference team in post-season play, having Cedar Rapids Xavier on the ropes and leading in the final five minutes before losing 50-43.
Watch here for updates as they become public.
