Home » Baseball NewsVYPE's Bold Baseball Playoff Predictions -- See Who Will Make StateMay 9, 2011 By Matt Malatesta of VYPE MAGAZINE - North HoustonCLICK IMAGE FOR BIG BASEBALL PHOTO GALLERY CBASEBALL PREDICTIONS As we all know, VYPE Magazine’s predictions are always right (see Cy Woods v Memorial football). Our crack staff takes a stab at Region II and Region III in Class 5A and 4A’s elimination playoff rounds. Who will make the state tournament? Read on as we predict the finalists. CLASS 5A REGION II The Woodlands face Austin Anderson in the second round. The Highlanders should advance with the likes of Bryan Brickhouse and Andrew Godail on the mound. Too much pitcher for TWHS. Klein will defeat Stony Point to set up an all-north Houston matchup. Klein will beat The Woodlands. The Highlanders have pitching, but Klein has the experience. On the bottom half of the bracket, Klein Oak will fall to Georgetown and Lufkin will beat Pflugerville. Lufkin will fall in the regional quarterfinals. REGION III Cy Fair and Lamar will be an interesting matchup. Fair plays better competition and are playoff ready. The edge goes to the Bobcats. Westside is loaded with talent and has a gamer in Daniel Mengden. The Wolves will beat upstart Jersey Village. Brazoswood will cruise past South Houston and Deer Park will handle Dulles. Advancing to the regional finals will be Brazoswood who will take down Deer Park and Westside. The bottom half of the bracket is tough. Memorial should grind it out against Langham Creek with the help of Boomer White and Wayne Taylor, while Seven Lakes should take care of Cypress Creek. Lakes has a well-balanced team. Clements will beat Dobie, La Porte and Seven Lake to reach the regional finals. Clements will take down Brazoswood and will win the whole enchilada in Class 5A CLASS 4A Three of the final 16 teams are from District 17-4A and two could make it to the regional finals. Starting up top, Magnolia will defeated Nederland and Montgomery will handle Little Cypress Mauriceville to set up an all-district regional quarterfinals. Magnolia will trip up Montgomery this go-around. Friendswood will pound Davis and Angleton will beat Houston Austin. Willis will knock off Goose Creek Memorial to face Brenham in the quarterfinals. Lamar Consolidated will beat Reagan and Sante Fe will catch up to Waltrip. When the dust settles, it will be Brenham against Magnolia and the Cubs will return to state.
