But the 6-footer switched gears this week and committed to the University of Virginia to play her college ball for the Cavaliers.
Thorson has a solid junior season and will be the featured point scorer as a senior for College Park, which will be a top 10 team in Houston entering the 2012 season.
"Virginia is the better fit for me," she said. "I like the quieter atmosphere and it is a beautiful city, with a past and a lot of culture. The coaching staff is very warm and welcoming and I feel like I can help bring the team to some wins in 2013."
Thorson is in the Top 32 Greater Houston Volleyball Coaches Association and VYPE's All-Preseason Team.
