Home » Football NewsMagnolia's FinestJune 20, 2012 By Matt Malatesta of VYPE MAGAZINE - North HoustonIt's been some time since Magnolia high school has delivered a high-major Division I prospect. Class 4A program is a little off the beaten path for recruiters hitting the Greater Houston area.
But defensive tackle Ajhane Brager is too big to pass up. The 6-foot-4, 280 pound defensive tackle will anchor coach Andy Sexton's new scheme in 2012. He also impressed during the spring and received his first offer from recruiter Dana Dimel of Kansas State.
"Ajhane can dominate the line of scrimmage and understands leverage in positioning," Sexton said. "We have changed our defensive scheme to a 3-4 for him to handle the middle. He has tremendously long arms and good feet, so some coaches are looking to move him to the offensive line."
Brager was an All-District selection a year ago, even after losing his younger sister during the preseason. He also cares for his handicapped younger brother while maintaining good academic standing and his position on the team.
"He's been through a lot but Ajhane has tremendous character," Sexton said.
