Houston Athlete Says Geaux Tigers

April 11, 2012
By Matt Malatesta of VYPE MAGAZINE - North Houston

Over the past three seasons, there has been a trend of Houston-area girls committing to the LSU volleyball team. Cy Wood's Dez Elliott, Pearland's Malorie Pardo, Travis' Marissa Maas and Cy Falls Mimi Euguen (she's only a sophomore).

Another underclassman committed to LSU this week when The Woodlands Kelly Quinn verbally committed to the Tigers.

"LSU seemed like the best fit for me," she said. "I fell in love with the school more and more every time I visited and I could picture myself there as a player and as a student. I love the atmosphere of a big SEC school and competing at a school where athletics is a big deal."

Quinn has started the past two seasons for coach Leslie Madison, reaching the state finals as freshman and the playoffs as a sophomore.

"On the athletic side. LSU's coaching staff, facilities, the program itself and my future teammates really were the selling point," she said. "Academically, I want to major in pre-med and they have a great pre-med program. I also wanted somewhere far from home but close enough, so location wise it fits perfectly."
