Klein's Kelli Hanzel is joined by Tomball's Rex Hill, Klein Collins' Austin Dean, The Woodlands' Kevin McCanna and College Park's Mitchell Price.

HOUSTON: Welcome to the February edition of VYPE North Houston where everything from baseball and softball to basketball and competitive cheerleading fill the pages of the area's top sports publication.

Basketball is up first as we delve deep into the College Park basketball program. When looking up and down the College Park roster, one significant thing that is missing is height. Despite running a five-guard rotation and not boasting one player taller than six-foot-three, that hasn’t hindered the success for coach Clifton McNeely’s Cavaliers. It's been his best coaching job yet.

On deck is our 2012 Baseball and Softball Preview. In baseball, Brazoswood High School caught lighting in a bottle last year, winning the Class 5A state title. Which north Houston teams will challenge for the hardware this season? VYPE breaks down the area's Top 5 programs and announces the Who's Who list of North Houston's baseball stars.

While North Houston is chasing a championship in baseball, the region is defending a title in softball. The Woodlands completely dominated the Class 5A competition a year ago, winning a state championship and a national title in softball. Can they repeat? Several north Houston programs say no, so we break down the area's top challengers and top Diamond Girls.

Forget what you think about competitive cheerleading. Wipe the images of the nutty cheer moms, the make-up and the drama from your conscious. Competitive cheer is here to stay and it's a big business. The city's preeminent cheer troupe is Woodlands Elite, which draws athletes from all over Houston, Katy, Huntsville, Clear Lake, Austin and even small towns like Tarkington, Texas.

A special thanks goes out to St. Lukes' Hospital and Tektonic, along with our other sponsors for making this the greatest job in Houston as we cover kids in the area.

See you at the games,
