He is the president of the Running Rivers (Junior High) Conference which is a position he has held since the conference’s inception during the 2007-08 school year.  He is also a member of the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association, the Indiana Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association, the Indiana High School Football Coaches Association and the Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association.

Uggen is also the head baseball coach at Northfield, a position he has held since taking over the program from long time head baseball coach Craig Winegardner in 1994.  The Norse have won 375 games over his 19 years including 12 TRC titles, 6 sectional, 3 regionals and the 2001 &and 2012 Class 2A State Championships.  He was named Class 2A Coach of the Year in 2001 by the IHSBCA and was runner up once.  He is currently one of two finalists for 2012 Class 2A Coach of the Year.  He has also been named District Coach of the Year four times and was the North All-Star coach in 2006.   He also served as head football coach from 1998-2000 and was at one time or another was an assistant coach in football (9 years), basketball (1 year) and baseball (2 years) at NHS.  He also coached freshman girls basketball and freshman baseball at Blackford for one year prior to coming to Northfield.
