Home » Football NewsNIC in Football RegionalsNovember 12, 2011 By Greg Humnicky of Northern Indiana ConferenceThe NIC in the IHSAA Football Play-offs All 3 NIC schools win their Regional games Regional Round - Friday, Nov. 11 Class 5A Crown Point (9-3) at Penn (12-0) at 7:30 pm EST Penn, the NIC champions with a 6-0 league mark will host Duneland Athletic Conference member, Crown Point, who finished tied for 3rd place in ther league with 4-3 record. Crown Point's three loses were in conference play to Merrillville, 21-20, at Lake Central, 26-7 and to Valparaiso 21-14. The Bulldogs got revenge in the Sectional as they beat Valpo in the semi-finals, 12-10, and beat Merrillville for sectional title, 42-21. Penn is the only undefeated 5A school left the state tourney. Final Score: Penn 20-3 over Crown Point Class 4A South Bend Washington (9-3) at Hammond Morton (11-1) - 7:30 pm EST/6:30 CST The Panthers of SB Washington look to add to their trophy case as they take on Hammond Morton, who edged Griffith, 27-26 for their sectional title. The Governors of Hammond Morton take a 11-1 record into the Regional game as their only setback came in a 30-26 loss to Munster on Sep. 16. SB Washington's losses came in week 5 in a NIC loss to Marian, 28-14 and the next week dropped a 17-6 NIC game to Penn. They also lost a 6-0 non-confernce contest to visiting Benet Academy out of Lisle, IL on Oct 7. Final Score: SB Washington 33-20 over Hammond Morton
Class 3A St. Joseph's (10-2) at Jimtown (10-2) - 7:00 pm - WSBT 960am Radio Game of the Week St. Joseph's comes into the Regional match up with a 10-2 record, losing back to back games to Marian, 25-21 and to Penn, 28-6 in weeks 6 & 7, as they finished tied for 2nd in the NIC with a 4-2 record. Jimtown also sports a 10-2 mark with a 2nd place finish in the NSC behind Bremen. The Jimmies lost the NSC crown to Bremen, 27-13 in week 8 of the season. They dropped their opener at NorthWood, 28-2. Final Score: St. Joseph's 21-0 over Jimtown
