IHSAA Boys' Track & Field Sectional - 5:00 pm
St. Joseph's is the defending Sectional champion at Penn this year, as the Boys' Sectional returns to the Penn facility after a one year absence due to the track and field renovation at Penn. St. Joseph's boys squad will be hard pressed to repeat last year's sweep of the NIC and the Sectional titles. Penn, who is coming off last week's NIC title, will be put to the test by SB Riley, who finished 2nd in the last week's NIC meet.
Eight of the nine NIC schools will run at Penn along with Bremen, LaVille and Glenn. Elkhart Central will run at the Goshen Sectional, where Central finished 7th out of a field of 11 schools. The top four places in each event will advance to the Kokomo Regional on Thursday, May 26. The top 3 places at the Kokomo Regional will advance to the IHSAA State Finals at Indiana University-Bloomington on Friday, June 3.
SB Washington won the Kokomo Regional last year with excellent finishes in the sprints as the Panthers edged host Kokomo by one point, 63 to 62. The Kokomo Regional will feature sectional qualifiers from Penn, Goshen, Kokomo and Plymouth. Eight NIC schools scored points at the Kokomo Regional with 7 NIC schools scoring in the top 15 schools out of a field of 31 schools.
