Home » Volleyball NewsNIC schools open up this weekAugust 15, 2010 By Greg Humnicky of Northern Indiana ConferenceIn NIC Volleyball the first week of the season will feature 6 NIC schools participating in the South Bend Pre-Season Volleyball Tournament, being held at Washington HS for the second year after a long run at Clay HS. On Tuesday St. Joseph's, Clay and Riley will square off followed by Wednesday's pool play featuring Elkhart Central, Adams and Washington. On Thursday, the 5th place match will start play, followed by the 3rd place match. The championship match on Thursday night will conclude the tourney with the schools with the best record from each pool squaring off the title. Adams will get a jump start on the season with an opening match at South Central on Monday. Mishawaka will travel for their opener to FW Northrup on Tuesday while Penn also goes on the road Tuesday to NorthWood to open their season. On Thursday Mishawaka gets on the bus again for a trip to Chesterton, while Penn hosts Plymouth. The last NIC school to get into action will be Marian on Thursday as they travel to Elkhart Memorial to open their season. On Saturday, Clay travels to the LaPore Invitational to conclude NIC volleyball play for the first week of the season.
