NIC Football Schedule - Friday, Aug 29
Crown Point at Mishawaka - 7:30 pm
MIshawaka (1-0) is coming off a strong 54-35 win at Portage and will face another Duneland school, Crown Point (1-0) who beat Lowell, 24-20 in their opener. Last year, Crown Point won the first game in the series between the schools, 30-7.
Final Score: Crown Point 35-34 over Mishawaka
Goshen at Elkhart Central
Elkhart Central (1-0) won the Mangy Loin by beating cross-town rival Memorial last week, 28-12 and will face Goshen (0-1) who lost to FW Carroll, 40-7 in their opener. Last year Central forfeited the game against Goshen after winning 42-14, and then beat Goshen in the sectional, 35-21. Central holds a 4-3 advantage in the series over the last 20 years.
Final Score: Elkhart Central 28-20 over Goshen
Penn at Portage - 7:30 pm
Penn (1-0) defeated Valparaiso, 35-3 in their opener last week and will travel to Portage (0-1) who lost to Mishawaka, 54-35 in their opener at home. Penn beat Portage twice last season, 32-0 in the second game last year and then beat Portage, 28-7 in the sectional. Penn is 6-0 vs Portage in the series between the two schools.
Final Score: Penn 42-0 over Portage
Lafayette Jeff at St. Joseph - 7:30 pm
St. Joseph (1-0) got a late FG to beat Chesterton on the road last week and will face Lafayette Jeff in their home opener. Jeff (0-1) lost their opener to Whiteland last week, 43-14. This is the first game ever between the schools.
Final Score: St. Joseph 23-0 over Lafayette Jeff
New Prairie at Marian - 8:00 pm
Marian (1-0) took care of Fairfield at home last week, 33-7, while New Prairie (0-1) lost to county rival LaPorte, 56-42. Last year, New Prairie won, 28-21 increasing the edge in the series, 3-1.
Final Score: New Prairie 27-14 over Marian
Michigan City at SB Washington - SF - 7:30 pm
Washington (0-1) is coming of an opening loss on the road at Concord, 29-6, while visiting Michigan City won their opener against Gary Roosevelt, 48-0. City won last year, 57-14 and holds a 4-3 edge in the series in game played in the last 20 years.
Final Score: Michigan City 34-31 over SB Washington
SB Clay at SB Adams - CF 7:00 pm- non-conference game at Clay Field with Adams the home team
Clay (0-1) lost to 6A power Merrillville, 35-28 at home while Adams (0-1) dropped a 14-0 contest at Northridge. Adams won the game a year ago, 21-14, but Clay holds 17-4 advantage over the last 20 years.
Final Score: SB Adams 28-0 over SB Clay
Northridge at SB Riley - JF - 7:00 pm
Riley (1-0) beat Boone Grove, 32-21 in their opener while Northridge (1-0) edged Adams at home, 14-0. Northridge won last year, 31-13 and holds a 5-0 advantage in the series.
