Penn takes 3rd place at the State Finals

IHSAA Boys' Swimming & Diving State Finals
Penn finished 3rd at the State Finals in Boys' Swimming anchored by Bowen Anderson' s 1st place finish in the 500 Freestyle in a time of 4:25.01. The Penn 200 Free relay team of Mate Kovacs, Bowen Anderson, Hudson Bursch and Adam Wait also captured a state championhip in a time of 1:24.65.
Penn scored 187 teams points to follow state champion Chesterton's 240 points, Avon scored 198 edging Penn for 2nd place. St. Joseph scored 38 points good for 19th place while Elkhart Central tallied 4 points from their 15th place finish in the 200 Free Relay. St. Joseph scored points from their 8th place 200 medley relay team (Anthony Klobus, Chris Bals, Justin Knobloch and Cole Short), while Kolbus tallied points on his 13th place finish in the 100 Backstroke and Chris Bals getting a 7th place finish in the 100 Breaststroke.
Penn's Hudson Bursch finished 8th in the 200 Individual Medley, Mate Kovacs got a 2nd place finish in ghe 50 Freestyle, then Penn diver Wayne Zhang finished 11th with 413.05 points. Penn had three finishers in the 100 Butterfly, Bowen Anderson, 4th place; Kyle Morris, 13th and Adams Wait 16th.
In addition to Anderson winning the 500 Free, teammate Hudson Bursch finished 6th in the 500. Penn's 400 Free Relay team of Mate Kovacs, Kyle Morris, Adam Wait and Hudson Bursch finished 4th to complete Penn's scoring.
The NIC had 4 schools represented at the state finals. (Penn, St. Joseph, Elkhart Central and SB Riley), with three of them scoring points on Saturday.
