Penn finishes 4th at the State Finals

IHSAA Girls' Swimming & Diving State Finals

Penn HS girls' swimming and diving team finished 4th with 166 point at the state finals behind senior Bethany Galat's two state titles in the 200 Individual Medley and the 100 Breaststroke. Her IM title was her third straight state crown while her 100 Breaststroke title was her second consectutive and set a state record time of :59.66.
Carmel won their their 28th consecutive title with 399 points, which puts them one away from a tie for the national record for consecutivre state championships.
Penn got a 5th place in the 200 medley relay. Kayla Molnar and Emily Meckstroth finished 10th & 11th in the 200 Freestyle. St. Joseph's Samantha Reese finished 9th in the Diving event. Meckstroth of Penn got a 4th in the 500 Freestyle, with Kayla Molnar finishing 10th. Penn's 200 Feestyle relay team captured a 2nd place runner-up finish.
In the 100 Breaststroke, besides Galat's title, teammate Annie Spalding got a 4th place finish, Abby Kirkpatrick of Riley got a 10th and Penn's Kim Hochstedler a 13th. Penn's 400 Free Relay finished 12th.
