Home » Girls' Soccer NewsMarian wins 1A State Championship in Girls' Soccer.October 27, 2012 By Greg Humnicky of Northern Indiana ConferenceIHSAA Girls' Soccer State Finals Class 1A - 1:00 pm in Indianapolis Marian 2-0 over Providence for the state title. Marian secures the state championship in Class 1A with a 2-0 win over Providence, the school that beat them a year ago for the state title in overtime on penalty kicks (3-1). Marian scored two first half goals that held up for the final 2-0 score. Congratulations to the Marian Knights, lead by Coach Djamel Charmat, who have won their first state championship in girls' soccer. The Knights finish season with a 18-4-2 overall record.
Class 2A - 6:00 pm in Indianapolis Evansville Memorial 3-1 over SB St. Joseph for the 2A state championship. Evansville Memorial 3-1 over St. Joseph for the 2A girls' soccer state championship. Both teams finish their seasons with a 21-3 season record. The Indians are coached by Johan Kuitse and have been the runner-up three times in school history, to go with their two state titles, won in 1998 and 2010.
