Home » Track & Field NewsPenn captures 4th Place at State FinalsJune 4, 2012 By Greg Humnicky of Northern Indiana ConferenceIHSAA Boys' Track & Field State Finals at Bloomington, IN Saturday, June 2 1 - Lawrence Central 78 points to win the State Championship 4 - Penn 28 points 39 - St. Joseph's 6 points 60 - SB Clay 2 points Penn got a 1st Place in the Pole Vault event when Kyle Johnston went 16' 1" to win the event. Their 400 m Relay team of Joseph Weller, Thomas Grant, Timothy Deal and Conner Sowders captured 1st Place in a time of :41.76 Thomas Grant of Penn got a 7th Place in the 200 m. Penn's 1600 m Relay team got a 5th Place finish with Deal and Sowders running with Mark Richards and Christian Hill. St. Joseph's Joey Zielinski got a 6th Place in the 1600 m Run. Joe Demaegd got an 8th Place finish in the Discus Throw for St. Joseph's. SB Clay's Tony Shead went 6' 4" good for a 6th Place tie in the High Jump.
