NIC Boys' Track and Field Meet at Elkhart Central on Tuesday

2011 Boys' NIC Track & Field Season Review
Penn won the 2011 NIC Boys' Track & Field Meet by scoring 133.5 points to SB Riley's 2nd place finish of 126.5 points. Penn won the Sectional by seven points over SB Riley, 137 to 129 1/3. MIshawaka had the best NIC regional finish with a team 4th place finish at Kokomo, while three NIC individuals won Regional titles. At the IHSAA Boys' State Finals in Bloomington, SB Riley's Elias Micozzi got a 6th place in the discuss to lead the NIC state qualifiers. Preview of this year's NIC Boys' Meet
Penn is the defending champion, with St. Joseph's and SB Riley providing competition. Returning individuals include St. Josesph's distance runner, Joe Zielinski, who won the NIC 1600 last year. Penn's Tim Deal, who won the 300 Hurdles returns to defend his title. Penn's 1600 m relay team who won the NIC last year with four uinderclassmen return to defend their title. Kyle Johnston of Penn returns to defend his Pole Vault title, where he set a new NIC record last year.
Other individuals to look to make a splash at the NIC meet include SB Clay's Tony Shead, who won the Goshen Relays title in the high jump and long jump. Jordan Hunt of SB Clay won the High Hurdles at the Goshen Relays looks to do well at the NIC Meet.

Zileinski won the 800 and the 1600 and was on the 2nd place St Joe 3200 relay team and 3rd place 1600 relay team.
