NIC Girls' Track and Field Meet at Elkhart Central on Tuesday

Review of 2011 NIC Girls' Track & Field Season

St. Joseph's won the NIC Girls' Meet, edging out Penn by seven points, 135.5 to 128.5. St. Joseph's was able to capture the Sectional crown at Bremen, with Penn just 5 points behind, 124.5 to 119.5 points. SB Adams won the Regional at Bremen by winning three events. SB Adams led the NIC at the Girls' State Finals with 14 points with St. Joseph's scoring 9 and Penn getting 6. St. Joseph's Mikaila Chamblee had the highest NIC finish as she got a 3rd place in the 300m Hurdles.

SB Adams athlete, Aaliyah McKinney, the NIC Girl's MVP from last year and Mikaila Chamblee, St. Joseph's State Finalist return this year to defend their NIC individual titles from a year ago. McKinney won the NIC 100, 200 and was on the 1st place 400 & 1600 relay teams, while Chamblee won the 300 hurdles. Kristina Galat of Penn  returns to defend her 3200 title. Shot Put champ, Maria Tomlinson of Mishawaka returns to defend her title.

McKinney repeated her MVP honors from last year, winning the 100m, 200m and was on the 400 m Relay and 1600 m Relay 1st place teams.
