Home » General NewsPanthers Knock Off #2 Ranked GiantsJanuary 4, 2013 By Rob Hendrix of Indianapolis North Central High SchoolNorth Central captured the first of two consecutive games between the Panthers and Ben Davis, defeating the Giants 55-50 in a regular season showdown between the two powerhouse MIC schools. The teams will also face off Tuesday evening in the first round of the Marion County Tourney at Ben Davis. On this night at North Central, however, the Panthers got the best of their westside rivals with a third quarter run that erased a 3-point halftime deficit and turned it into a six-point lead. Junior swingman Michael Loggan was the spark off the bench that keyed the comeback. Loggan scored 7 third quarter points while dishing out an assist to go along with one steal. Following a lackluster first half, Eron Gordon was the other spark in the quarter scoring 11 points. Darius Latham played a steady, efficient game scoring a game-high 19 on 5 of 8 shooting from the floor and a 9 of 10 performance from the free throw line. Latham also pulled down 10 boards for Coach Doug Mitchell's crew that moved its' record to 7 and 3 for the season. Perry Poindexter added 6 points, Wade Stallings 5 and Collin Bridgeforth 4 to round out the North Central scoring. Follow the link below for more coverage on the game from Indy Star dot com.
