Logansport finished 20th in the AAA division of the 103-team New Prairie Invitational. Logansport finished with 577 points. Valparaiso edged out Mishawaka to win the team title 73-78. Individually for Logan, senior Jon Flory led the Berries with a personal record time of 17:29 and placed 77th. Travis Palmer ran 17:45 and finished 105th, Tate Gellinger finished in 118th with 17:53, Chris Espinoza was 135th in 18:09 and Kyle Jordan rounded out the scoring for Logan by finishing 142nd in a time of 18:13. On the junior varsity side Audie Kaufman led the Berries with a time of 18:45. In the freshman/sophomore race Dom Patacsil led the Berries with a time of 19:54. “We improved our placing by five spots over last season and we lost our top two runners from that team. Our times are coming down and we still are training very hard, so I was pleased with how we raced,” Logan coach Chuck LaDow said. “The boys feel like they are racing with dead legs, and they are, so to see them compete at this level with the workouts we are currently doing is encouraging. Our goal is to run our best times in the regional and semi-state here at New Prairie in one month, so hopefully we can come back here in October and have even bigger time drops.” Pioneer competed in the A division. Dylan Bice led the Panthers with a 25th place finish in 18:02. He was followed by Jonathon Phillips (79th, 19:35), Cameron Cover (86th, 19:40), Jordan Robinson (190th, 23:12) and Austin McWherter (201st, 24:38). Winamac also competed in the A division. Caleb Schmicker led the Warriors with a time of 19:28. He was followed by Bryant Larkin (20:10), Joshua Tankersley (21:47) and Garrett Pesaresi (23:45).
