Rebels prepare for Spring Practice!
February 27, 2013North Caddo High School
The North Caddo Rebels are gearing up for Spring Football practice which begins on Monday, April 29th. There is more excitement this year due to the addition of a Spring Game. For past several years Louisiana High Schools have not been allowed to have a spring game.
However, principals in the LHSAA voted at the annual convention in January to bring back Spring Football contests against other schools.
"I'm glad the principals are allowing us to have the Spring Game back," Coach Byrd said. "It really changes the complexion of spring practice when you add the element of getting to compete against other schools. It gives you a good indication of where you are as a program."
The North Caddo Rebels will take on 4A North DeSoto at North DeSoto on Tuesday, May 14th at 5:30 p.m. North DeSoto's coach - Scott Abernathy - was in the meeting when the vote to allow for Spring Games came down. Coach Byrd was following the voting on twitter.
"Coach Abernathy texted me as soon as the vote was announced," Coach Byrd said. "We agreed to play. They have a great program down there. I have a lot of respect for the job those guys do down there. I am also excited for our kids...and they are too."
Until then, the work continues in the weightroom and on the track for the Rebels as they get bigger, faster, and stronger.
