NJCAA Fall Sport Players of the Week Selections (9/28/2011)

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The following are this week’s NJCAA Player of the Week selections for football, men’s soccer, women’s soccer and volleyball. For more information visit www.njcaa.org.

NJCAA Football Players of the Week – Sept. 28, 2011
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – David Vega (New Mexico Military Institute), Caleb Leightnam (Rochester CTC, Minn.) and John Wood (Alfred State College, N.Y.) have been named NJCAA Football Players of the Week for games Sept. 22 through Sept. 25.

Vega garnered Offensive Player of the Week honors, Leightnam was selected Defensive Player of the Week and Special Teams Player of the Week went to Wood.

NJCAA Men’s Soccer Players of the Week – Sept. 28, 2011
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Ricardo Zambonino (Morton College, Ill.), Oscar Hernandez (Arizona Western College), David Cornwell (Brookdale CC, N.J.) and Davion Bailey (Herkimer CCC, N.Y.) have been named NJCAA Men’s Soccer Players of the Week for games Sept. 19 through Sept. 25.

Zambonino was selected Player of the Week and Hernandez earned Goalie of the Week accolades for Division I. In Division II, Cornwell was named Player of the Week and Goalie of the Week honors went to Bailey.

NJCAA Women’s Soccer Players of the Week – Sept. 28, 2011
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Cyndle McGuinness (USC-Lancaster, S.C.), Kelli Brewer (Northwest Mississippi CC), Mikaela Howell (Monroe College, N.Y.) and Michelle Cuomo (Herkimer CCC, N.Y.) have been named NJCAA Women’s Soccer Players of the Week for games Sept. 19 through Sept. 25.

McGuinness was named Player of the Week in Division I, while Brewer was selected Goalie of the Week. For Division III, Howell was awarded Player of the Week and Goalie of the Week honors went to Cuomo.

NJCAA Volleyball Players of the Week - Sept. 28, 2011
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Leticia Guimaraes (Central Wyoming College), Ashley Hulbert (Muskegon CC, Mich.) and Hannah Smith (Ridgewater College, Minn.) have been named NJCAA Volleyball Players of the Week for games Sept. 19 through Sept. 25.

Player of the Week in Division I was awarded to Guimaraes. Hulbert was named Player of the Week in Division II, while Division III honors went to Smith.
