Home » Boys' Softball NewsTigers win first HDC softball tournament title in school historySeptember 14, 2010 Newtown Harris High SchoolBy Kameron Cool The N-H Tigers won their first ever HDC tournament title on Saturday with a 10-1 win against the Pattonsburg Panthers. The Tigers (5-1, 2-0 HDC), got off to a slow start against the hard throwing Pattonsburg pitcher as they were down 1-0 going into the fifth inning. Freshman Micah Busick scored the first Tiger run after reaching on an error. After that first run the Tiger offense got rolling. They plated four runs in the fifth, two in the sixth and four more in the seventh. Eight of the starting nine players scored a run in the contest and as many reached base. Senior Caleb Brown had a triple to go along with another hit, driving in two runs. The Tigers advanced to the final with a 16-0, three-inning game against the Mercer Cardinals, and a semifinal win against the North Harrison Shamrocks, 9-4.
