Gallup, New Mexico to Host 7th Annual National Junior High Finals Rodeo

Denver, Colorado -- Once again, the nation's top junior high cowboys and cowgirls will battle for national championships and thousands of dollars in college scholarships and prestigious prizes at the 7th Annual National Junior High Finals Rodeo, June 26 - July 2 in Gallup, NM.


A total of 46 U.S. states and Canadian provinces, plus Australia, are eligible to send finalists to the event, which will be held at Red Rock Park. Junior high competitors will compete in a variety of classic rodeo events, including junior bull riding, tie-down roping, breakaway roping, goat tying, chute dogging, team roping, ribbon roping, barrel racing, pole bending, and goat tying. Athletes will appear in daily rodeo performances (beginning at 9 AM and 7 PM every day) with the top students in each event qualifying for the championship Final Go-Round performance on Saturday, July 2nd. In addition to rodeo action, competitors and visitors will also enjoy a western trade show and numerous recreational activities.

The NHSRA is one of the fastest growing youth organizations in the nation, with an annual membership of over 10,500 students from 41 states, five Canadian provinces and Australia. The Association sanctions over 1,100 rodeos each year. The NHSRA is governed by a national board of directors, which consists of one member from each state or province. A staff at the national headquarters in Denver, Colorado, handles the day-today operations.
