Lady Rams first win at new school.

February 23, 2014
By David Alexander of Newton High School

The Newton High Lady Rams scored their first victory of the 2014 season Saturday with a win over the visiting MLK Jr Lions by a score of 6-1. After an initial loss to the cross-county rival Alcovy Tigers, the Lady Rams settled into place as they moved the ball very well in the first half of play. The hard fought game was both physical and emotional for the team, with Lacey Brackett scoring four times during a match that saw several yellow cards issued to players from both teams. Rounding out the scoring for the Rams were Jessica Eller and Topanga Bailey who each scored one goal. The offensive charge was led by field captain Precious Buddington who, in her third year as a starter drew multiple defenders throughout the game freeing up her teammates for their scoring opportunities.

The Lady Rams next matchup is Wednesday February 26th at 5:30 here at home with the Lady Bulldogs of Morgan County High School. Tickets are $6.00 for adults and $4.00 for students.

The first goal scored on the new field at our new school.
