Second-inning rally sparks blowout win for the Newton Rams Varsity, 7-1

A four-run explosion in the second inning hoisted the Newton Rams Varsity to a 7-1 win in seven innings over the Rockdale Bulldogs on Tuesday.

Mason Callaway reached base three times in the game for the Newton Rams Varsity. He scored three runs and had one RBI. He singled in the second inning.

The Rockdale Bulldogs couldn't get anything going as long as Levi Langford was on the mound. Langford held the Rockdale Bulldogs hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two.

Shawn Guckenberger recorded the win for the Newton Rams Varsity. He allowed one run over 5 1/3 innings. Guckenberger struck out one, walked four and gave up three hits.

The game was never in doubt after the first, as the Newton Rams Varsity scored one run on an error.
