Former Rams play on TV

December 19, 2012
By Rick Rasmussen of Newton High School

Derrick's Winthrop University team out of the Div. I Big South conference played at #7 ranked Ohio State and battled to the end in a close ball game that went down to the final minutes. Henry led Winthrop with 12 points and leads the Eagles in scoring at 16 points per game.  Henry, a former 3 time all-state and 2 time Region player of the year for Newton, led the Rams to back-to-back region titles in 2010 and 2011 and trips to the AAAAA Final Four and Elite Eight.

Stephen Croone, former Rams PG and also a member of the Rams region title teams and an all-state and all-region player himself, starts as a freshman for Furman and led the team in scoring with 12 points at Wake Forest Tuesday night, as Furman lost.  Croone also had 15 points earlier in the season vs. Clemson.  He has stepped up against tough competition.
