Trailing by five runs going into the sixth, New Palestine put together a rally for the ages, beating Center Grove 7-5 Tuesday in the Franklin sectional semis.
The Dragons (24-3) will advance to Wednesday's sectional title game against host Franklin. First pitch is 5:30 p.m.
NP trailed 5-0 going into the sixth, as Center Grove scored a single run in the second and four in the fifth. In the top of the sixth, Brittany Duncan, Abby O'Connor and Issy Hoyt drove in runs, and a Trojan error allowed the Dragons to cut the CG lead to 5-4. In the seventh, the Dragons got runners on again and tied the game on an RBI single by Duncan, took the lead on one by Issy Hoyt, and added an insurance run on another by Casey Lehman.
Duncan was 2-3 with two runs, two RBI and a double. O'Connor was also 2-3 with an RBI, helping pace a 10-hit attack. Hoyt was 1-3 with two runs and two RBI. Markie Wood and Addi Clouse each had a hit and a run -- Clouse's was a double.
