The New Palestine baseball team registered its second doubleheader sweep of the season -- and its first in HHC competition -- against longtime rival Pendleton Heights Saturday afternoon.

The Dragons won the opener 3-0 behind Evan Vance's four-hit shutout. The second game featured a rally to win 10-5.

In the first game, the Dragons got all the runs they needed, as Keegan Watson, Jason Hall-Manley and Logan Gilvin all reached. Wes McBride drove in the first run, and Cameron Clark followed with a two-run double.

From there, it was all the defense and Vance (4-2), who scattered four hits, struck out two, and faced six batters more than the minimum. The defense behind him also played errorless ball.

Offensively, Gilvin, Watson, Hall-Manley and Clark had the Dragons' four hits.

In the second game, the Dragons had to rally from deficits of 3-0 and 5-4 before winning 10-5.

The Dragons trailed 3-0 going into the fourth, but scored twice in that inning and in the fifth to take a one-run lead, but PH scored twice in the bottom of the fifth to go up 5-4. NP re-took the lead with two runs in the sixth and four in the seventh.

The Dragons pounded 11 hits, with Evan Hickman's solo homer and two doubles by Connor Swain leading the charge. Swain also had a single for a 3-4 day, and drove in a run. Hickman also had two hits on the afternoon. Tyler Woodcock had a single, a double and two RBI. Steven Clark also had a two-run hit. Zach Biddle singled once and scored twice. Wes McBride and Justin Anderson also had RBI.

Andy Edwards got the win in relief, throwing two perfect innings and striking out three. Starter Hogan Fulkerson scattered eight hits and four earned runs in 4+ innings.

The Dragons are now 16-8. They finish the regular season with a trip to Brebeuf on Monday, a home game against Greenwood on Wednesday and a trip to Mt. Vernon on Friday. NP is 5-5 in HHC play.
