FB: Dragons win lineman challenge

New Palestine's football team won its inaugural Ironman Lifting Challenge hosted at NPHS Saturday morning.
Other competing teams were Lawrence North, Richmond, Roncalli, and New Castle. Each team was permitted to select two lifters from eight different weight classes ranging from 165lbs to the Heavyweight division.
Individual champions from New Palestine were Jeff Wilcher (165), Sterling Curran (200), Trent Mahaney (215), Gabe Estes (235), and Andrew Yazel (265). Other top finishers were Alex Neligh – 3rd at 185, Noah Grable - 2nd at 235, David Judy – 3rd at 265, and Alex Barnes – 2nd at Heavyweight.
New Palestine had five players lift over 1,000 combined pounds in the three measured lifts, which was more than every other school combined.
As a team, the Dragons blew away the competition with a final score of 480 points. Second place was Lawrence North with 392.5, Richmond was 3rd with 342.5, Roncalli was 4th with 277.5, and New Castle 5th at 220.5
Congrats to our boys as they defended our weight room and emerged champions of the first Ironman Challenge.
