The No. 4 NP softball team drilled Greenfield-Central with a 20-hit attack in a 14-3 victory over the Cougars Thursday afternoon.
The Dragons actually trailed 3-2 going into the fifth, but scored three times in the fifth, and followed with a nine-run sixth to end the game early via the mercy rule.
Kaylin McMurray got the pitching win, allowing four hits and no earned runs over four innings. Elisha Barker got the save, pitching two perfect innings.
Abby O'Connor hit a solo homer for the Dragons, who had seven extra-base hits. Issy Hoyt continued her hot hitting by going 4-5 with two runs, three doubles and four RBI. Brittany Duncan was also 4-5 with a double, two runs and two RBI. Markie Wood had three singles and three runs. Adie Lorsuing was 2-5 with two runs, two RBI and a triple. Casey Lehman also had a single, a double and an RBI. Mary Crumlin was 2-4 with an RBI, and Barker had a hit, a run and drove in two. Madison Whitaker also had a hit for the Dragons.
New Palestine is now 15-3 on the season and 5-0 in HHC play with two conference games remaining -- against HHC co-leader New Castle and to conclude the season against Delta.
