By Andrew Smith of New Palestine High School

Fourth-ranked New Palestine took a three-run lead into the seventh inning, but a walkoff homer allowed Center Grove to rally and beat the Dragons 4-3.

The Dragons had won 10 straight games prior to Wednesday's game.

The Dragons strung hits together to take a 3-0 lead in the third, with Issy Hoyt, Casey Lehman and Adie Lorsung each driving in a run. Markie Wood, Brittany Duncan and Hoyt scored the three runs. Hoyt, Lehman, Duncan and Lorsung all had two hits to pace a nine-hit attack. Wood had the Dragons' other hit. Lehman's two hits were both doubles. Hoyt also had a double.

Things stayed tied until the bottom of the seventh, when CG's Victoria Boyer had an RBI hit and Mandy Dallas followed with a three-run homer to end the game.

Starter Kaylin McMurray pitched three scoreless innings, allowing five hits and striking out two. Elisha Barker took the loss, giving up three hits, four earned runs and striking out five over 3 2/3 innings.

The Dragons (12-2) take on HHC co-leader Shelbyville today on the road.
