SB: Dragons rout Arabians 14-4

Madison Whitaker drove in four runs as the New Palestine softball team beat HHC rival Pendleton Heights 14-4 Tuesday evening.
The victory gave the fourth-ranked Dragons their 11th straight victory and a 12-1 record on the season. The Dragons are now 3-0 in conference play and are tied with Shelbyville for the league lead.
NP built a 4-0 lead after three, but PH tied it up in the top of the fifth. The Dragons answered with a seven-run fifth to re-take the lead, and a three-run sixth to end the game an inning early due to the 10-run rule.
Whitaker had a double, a homer and four RBI to lead the Dragons at the plate, as NP outhit PH 11-4. Casey Lehman also had a solid day with two doubles and three RBI. Addi Clouse was 3-4 with two runs scored. Abby O'Connor had a single, a double, a run and two RBI. Adie Lorsung continued her strong hitting with a hit, two runs and two RBI. Markie Wood doubled, scored twice and drove in a run.
Elisha Barker got the pitching win in relief, allowing no hits and striking out two in 1 2/3 innings of relief. Starter Kaylin McMurray allowed one earned run, four hits and struck out three in 4 1/3 innings.
The Dragons next play Wednesday at Center Grove, and then follow with a game Thursday at HHC co-leader Shelbyville.
