TE: Dragons fall to Yorktown 3-2
April 24, 2014By Andrew Smith of New Palestine High School
New Palestine dropped a 3-2 match to Yorktown Thursday afternoon in the final tune-up for the county meet.
It was as close as it possibly could be, with the final point being decided in a third-set tiebreak, where Yorktown won 7-5 in the tiebreak over Lauren Hardebeck/Alana Henry and took the match.
Four matches went to three sets, with the Dragons' wins coming from No. 1 singles Nikki Beaty and No. 1 doubles Kylar Litteral/Kara Miller.
The Dragons are now 3-2 on the season -- with both losses coming in 3-2 team scores -- and 0-1 in HHC play.
"We started out a little bit slow at every position, but we did a good job of fighting back and ended up playing pretty well against a very strong Yorktown team. Hopefully, we'll learn from that and get ready for the county tournament tomorrow."
The county tourney will be contested Friday under the lights at Mt. Vernon.
Yorktown won the JV match 11-5.
