TE: Dragons fall 3-2 to Flashes

April 19, 2014
By Andrew Smith of New Palestine High School

The New Palestine tennis team dropped a close 3-2 decision to Franklin Central on Friday afternoon.

The Dragons swept the doubles, with Kara Miller/Kylar Litteral winning at No. 1, and Alana Henry/Lauren Hardebeck winning at No. 2, both in straight sets.

The match came down to No. 1 singles, where Nicole Beaty wasn't 100 percent, but battled despite eventually falling 7-6(5), 6-4.

"Kind of a measuring stick," NP coach Chris Hardin said. "Our singles need a little bit of work. Doubles played well. We'll move on from there. We've got another measuring stick tomorrow with the Mt. Vernon tournament."

The Dragon varsity is now 2-1 on the year, and will play three matches Saturday in the Mt. Vernon Tournament.

FC won the JV match 8-2.
