BA: Dragons open season with DH split

The New Palestine Dragons opened the season by splitting a doubleheader against Delta, falling 5-4 in the opener before winning the nightcap 7-3.
The Dragons are 1-1 on the season and in the HHC. The next game is scheduled for Monday at Martinsville. The next HHC games are Friday at home against Greenfield-Central.
In the opener, the Dragons staged a rally back from a 5-1 deficit, scoring a run in the fifth and two more in the sixth, but the rally fell short. Nick Butcher had an RBI double, and Jason Hall-Manley drove in two runs. Hall-Manley had two hits, while Andy Edwards, Butcher and Connor Swain all each had a hit.
On the mound, Swain allowed five hits and two earned runs in 2 2/3 innings, taking the loss. Andy Edwards pitched 3 1/3 innings of relief, allowing one run and one hit.
In the nightcap, the Dragons scored four first-inning runs to take a lead, and never looked back in a 7-3 victory. NP also scored a single run in the second and two more in the sixth. NP outhit Delta 7-6.
The Dragons pounded seven hits, with Cameron Clark hitting an RBI double. He also scored twice. Connor Swain had two hits, two RBI and a run. Nick Butcher also had two hits and scored twice. Jason Hall-Manley and Justin Anderson had singles, while Cody Chandler drove in a run.
Vance got the win, allowing two hits and two earned runs in 4 2/3 innings. Justin Anderson came on for the save, with one run and four hits in 2 1/3 innings of relief.
