GYM: Dragons advance to regional

New Palestine juinor Kaytlin Fee was the all-around sectional champion, and senior Kylie Zehner also won an individual title as the Dragons finished second in the Connersville sectional and advanced as a team.

The Dragons tallied 102.0 points, second to champion Connersville (105.425). Third-place New Castle (100.475) also advanced from the 12-team sectional.

Fee tallied a 36.175 in the all-around to win the sectional title, ahead of Richmond's Chasity Wampler (35.85). Zehner was ninth in the all-around (33.05) and Annabelle Dockins 11th (32.3).

Fee was the individual champion on the balance beam, tallying a 9.275. Also on beam, Zehner was 11th (7.95) and Rylee Elsea 13th (7.85).

Zehner was the individual champion on floor exercise with a 9.175 score, with Fee finishing third (8.85). Dockins was 11th (8.425).

On bars, Fee was fourth (8.9), Dockins 15th (7.55) and Zehner 16th (7.325). Fee was also fourth on vault (9.15), with Dockins sixth (8.95) and Zehner 12th (8.6).

The Dragons will compete in the six-team Columbus East regional on Friday night. The top three teams and top six individuals from each event will advance from there to the State Finals on March 22.
