GBB: Dragon D comes up big vs. Guerin

The Dragons' defense came up big in a 35-31 victory over Guerin Catholic Saturday evening.
New Palestine held Guerin to 24 percent shooting -- including 15 percent (3-19) in the second half -- en route to the come-from-behind victory.
The Dragons outscored the Golden Eagles 11-4 in the final quarter, holding Guerin off the scoreboard from the field until the game's final minute, when a 3-pointer cut the lead to 34-30.
Natalie Kehrt led the Dragons with 10 points. She also had five rebounds and two steals. Katlyn Keele added nine points and nine rebounds, just missing a double-double. Raegan McMurray and Haley Stratman had six points each. McMurray also had four rebounds and three steals. STratman had three boards and a steal. Gia Nitschke and Emma Laughlin had two points each. Laughlin also had two assists and three boards.
The Dragons are now 5-7 on the season. They begin a busy week Tueday at home against Perry Meridian in a make-up game. They then host Triton Central on Thursday before traveling to Whiteland for a Saturday noon JV tipoff.
