The New Palestine Dragons dropped a 52-32 decision to Greenfield-Central in the opening half of Friday's doubleheader.
The Dragons and Cougars traded baskets for the opening 10 minutes, as they were tied at 12 early in the second quarter. Haley Stratman knocked down two 3-pointers in that span to get the Dragons going, but Greenfield-Central's defense fueled a 23-1 run that saw the Cougars go ahead 26-13 at halftime and push the lead to 35-13 in the third, before NP rallied with a 15-point fourth quarter.
The Dragons were led by Stratman and Emma Laughlin with eight points each. Laughlin also had a team-high eight rebounds -- including five offensive boards -- and three assists. Natalie Kehrt added seven points. Katlyn Keele had four points and four rebounds.
NP outrebounded G-C 29-19.
