Tuesday NPHS wrapup: BSOC wins 10-0, VB falls to #1

The Dragons won their fourth straight match, beating Greenwood 10-0 on Tuesday.
James Pridgen had a hat trick, while Bo Owens added two goals and an assist to lead the Dragons.
Matt Ernster, Owens, Pridgen, John Tuttle and Alex Melangton all scored in the first half to give NP a 5-0 lead at the break. Pridgen finished the hat trick with two goals to start the second half. Owens, Jaxon Pridgen and Quinn Johnson also scored. Caleb Kramer had two assists. Ben Richter, Jackson Cochran, Ryan Miller, Sam Weber, Tuttle and Scott Niehoff also had assists.
"The boys played a decent game," NP coach Bobby Holden said. "We need to come out with intensity from the beginning and play strong. Every New Palestine player played and contributed to the varsity win."
The Dragons are now 7-3 and travel to Greenfield-Central on Thursday.
No JV match was contested.
The New Palestine volleyball team fell to 3A No. 1 Delta 25-8, 25-16, 25-13 on the road Tuesday evening.
Megan Hawley led the Dragons with 27 digs.
NP is now 9-7 overall and 1-1 in HHC play. The Dragons travel to Pendleton Heights Thursday.
The Dragon JV also fell 25-13, 25-19.
The Dragons continued their winning streak, extending it to 10 straight matches with a 5-0 blanking of Tech.
Brent Barrett, Connor Swain, Jake Purcell, David Thompson/Pete Rusche and Shayan Khokhar/Ben Farley all won in straight sets.
The Dragon JV won 11-1.
The NP varsity is now 12-2. The Dragons next play Thursday at home against Triton Central.
