New Palestine's girls golf team posted a victory in the New Palestine Invitational Saturday at The Links.
The Dragons shot a 374 to win by 37 strokes over second-place Greenfield-Central (411).
Abby Poole shot an 83 to lead the Dragons. Cassie Rooks shot 93 and Sarah Rose 96. Bailey Kamp shot 102.
Poole finished second overall. Anderson's Morgan Nadaline shot a 75 to win overall medalist honors. Rooks and Mackenzie Fisk of Greenfield-Central tied for third overall with 93s. Rose's 96 was fifth overall.
Anderson was third (415), followed by Shelbyville (420), Rushville (430), Brebeuf (431), Eastern Hancock (486) and Cascade (496).
"The whole team played well and scored their best tournament score and finish," NP coach Gregg Greene said. "This is the first tournament win in the 10 years that I have been coach. It was also our first tournament to host at our course. The course was more challenging with faster and smoother greens which with their size contributed to a number of 3 or more putts for the other teams. We have a lot of work yet to do with our games before county and conference but the girls are driven to succeed."
