Home » Boys' Soccer NewsSOC: Dragons' Basaran, Joray sign soccer lettersFebruary 14, 2013 By Andrew Smith of New Palestine High SchoolNew Palestine High School seniors Bryson Basaran and Lauren Joray signed national letters of intent this week to play collegiate soccer. Basaran signed a letter of intent to play soccer at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. Joray signed a letter of intent to play soccer at Indiana University. Basaran was the leading scorer on the Dragons’ team both his junior and senior years. He had 12 goals and five assists in the 2012 season to help lead the Dragons to a 10-7-1 record and runner-up finishes in both the Hoosier Heritage Conference and the sectional. As a junior, he had 23 goals and six assists for an HHC championship team. Over his career, he scored 36 goals and assisted on 13 others, playing the last two seasons for head coach Bobby Holden at NPHS. He plans to pursue physical therapy at Wright State. He will play for head coach Bryan Davis at WSU. Joray was a leader on the Dragons’ HHC championship girls soccer team. She had a team-high 11 goals and nine assists in 2012. As a junior, she had 19 goals and seven assists and helped lead the Dragons to an undefeated regular season and a sectional championship. She also had 24 goals and 19 assists during her sophomore season, another sectional championship year. Her major is currently undecided. She will play for new IU head coach Amy Berbery at IU. She played her first three seasons for head coach Dana Merrick at NPHS, and her senior season for head coach Bobby Holden. ![]() New Palestine senior Bryson Basaran signs his national letter of intent to play soccer at Wright State.
