Fairfield downs host Prairie Heights, 42-36, in NECC battle
Fairfield made a 26-17 halftime lead hold up Dec. 1 as the Falcons posted a 42-36 Northeast Corner Conference victory at Prairie Heights.
Jenna Kieper led Fairfield with 17 points, while Shawna Carbone had 17 for the Panthers.

Superior shooting lifts Fremont to 52-40 NECC victory at Lakeland
Fremont pulled away from a 27-26 halftime lead Dec. 1 to hang on for a 52-40 Northeast Corner Conference victory at Lakeland.
Despite 32 turnovers – including 17 steals by Lakeland – Fremont prevailed due to big advantages in shooting, free throws, and rebounding.
The Falcons were 17 of 51 (33 percent) from the field, 17 of 26 (65 percent from the stripe), and had 34 rebounds. Those numbers compared with 21 percent (14 of 68), 8 of 21 (38 percent), and 14 for the Lakers.
Junior Miranda White paced with a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds (plus four blocked shots), while senior Kelsey Sichling also double-doubled with 11 points and 13 boards (plus three steals).
Abi Thompson led Lakeland with 14 points, while Ashtin Kaminer added 13 points and eight steals.

3A #6 Angola rolls past Central Noble, 88-15, in NECC blowout
Class 3A sixth-ranked overwhelmed visiting Central Noble with defense Dec. 1, making 26 steals and limiting the Cougars to only 25 shot attempts in an 88-15 Northeast Corner Conference rout.
Senior Rachel Rinehart flirted with a triple-double for Angola, scoring a game-high 25 points to go along with nine rebounds and eight steals. Classmate Ericka Rinehart added 13 points for the Hornets, who knocked down 8 of 19 (42 percent) 3-point attempts and went 16 of 23 (70 percent) from the free throw line.
Junior Tiffany Simcox had three points and eight rebounds for Central Noble, which shot just 12 percent from the floor (3 of 25) and missed its only three try.

Westview defeats Churubusco, 47-38, in NECC clash
Westview limited visiting Churubusco to just 32 percent shooting (15 of 48) Dec. 1 in rallying for a 47-38 Northeast Corner Conference victory.
The game was a toss-up after three periods of play at 28-27 in Westview’s favor. But the Warriors won the fourth quarter by a 19-11 count to prevail over the Eagles, who made just one of their nine 3-point attempts.
Sophomore Montana Martin led Churubusco with 16 points and eight rebounds, while senior Savannah Labenz had 10 points.

Westview rides 62-60 roller coaster to OT victory over Bremen
Despite squandering a 32-19 halftime lead Nov. 29, host Westview made it count in the end as the Warriors escaped in overtime with a 62-60 win.
Freshman Maria McCoy tallied 19 points and fellow frosh Grace Hales had 13 for Westview, which benefited from a 4-for-27 effort (15 percent) on 3-point shooting by Bremen.
Junior Sara Slabaugh led Bremen with 20 points, while sophomore Rachael Czarnecki had seven points and nine rebounds.

Big 4Q lets Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian get past Churubusco, 51-43
A monster fourth quarter Nov. 29 catapulted Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian to a 51-43 victory over visiting Churubusco.
After scoring 10, seven, and nine points for a total of 26 over the first three quarters, Blackhawk lit it up for 25 points in the final eight minutes to prevail.
Senior Brittney Chalfant nearly posted a double-double for the winners with 22 points and nine rebounds, while classmate Hannah Henry added nine points and nine rebounds.

Woodlan overcomes hot-shooting Eastside in 53-37 victory
Visiting Eastside shot extremely well from the floor Nov. 28, but that wasn’t enough for the Blazers in a 53-37 loss at Woodlan.
Eastside converted over 50 percent from both close range (11 of 21) and behind the 3-point line (5 of 7). But a total of 28 field goal attempts could not keep pace with a Woodlan squad that led 19-10, 33-20, and 44-22 at the first three stops.
Junior Kaci Shook paced Eastside with eight points and six assists, while classmate Lindsey Jones also had eight points.

Knafel’s 25 lead Wawasee past West Noble, 47-41
Wawasee got a game-high 25 points Nov. 27 from the state’s second-leading scorer, senior KiLee Knafel, to slip past visiting West Noble, 47-41.
West Noble, which was hindered by 22 turnovers, was led by senior Haley Richardson (close to a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds) and junior Kelsie Peterson (seven rebounds, six assists, and six steals).

Rinehart explodes as 3A #4 Angola crushes NECC foe Central Noble, 88-15
Senior Rachel Rinehart just missed a monster triple-double with 25 points, 15 assists, and nine steals Dec. 1 in leading Class 3A fourth-ranked Angola to an 88-15 Northeast Corner Conference rout of visiting Central Noble.
The Hornets (8-0 overall, 5-0 in NECC play) jumped out to a 19-0 lead after one and enjoyed a 45-9 advantage at the half in shooting 49 percent from up close (24 of 49) and a steamy 42 percent (8 of 19) from behind the 3-point line overall.
Senior Ericka Rinehart added 13 points for Angola.
Central Noble (0-7, 0-4) made only three of its 24 field goal attempts for 12 percent, and the Cougars missed their only three try.
Junior Tiffany Simcox had three points and eight rebounds to lead Central Noble, which now has dropped 34 consecutive games.

Richardson’s double-double leads West Noble to 59-32 NECC win over Eastside
West Noble jumped out to a 15-2 lead after the first quarter Dec. 1 and coasted to a 59-32 Northeast Corner Conference victory over visiting Eastside.
A key in the Chargers improving to 4-3 overall and 3-1 in NECC play was 3-point shooting. West Noble connected on 5 of 15 (33 percent) compared with 1 of 5 (20 percent) for the Blazers (0-6, 0-3).
Senior Ashley Shepherd led West Noble with 19 points, while classmate Haley Richardson posted a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds to go along with five steals.
Junior Lindsey Jones paced Eastside with 12 points and seven rebounds, while classmate Kaci Shook added nine points.

4A #7 Northridge posts methodical 62-39 victory at Westview
Junior Morgan Miller posted a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds as Class 4A seventh-ranked Northridge won each quarter Nov. 27 in rolling to a 62-39 victory at Westview.
The visitors led 17-12, 33-19, and 49-32 after the first three stops and had 16 steals en route to forcing 22 Westview turnovers.
Senior Haley Schrock added 15 points, four rebounds, and three steals for Northridge (6-0).
Freshman Grace Hales paced Westview (1-4) with 11 points, five rebounds, and five assists, while frosh Maria McCoy added eight points.

The host Lakers (1-5) were hindered by 20 percent shooting, including an 0-for-8 night from behind the 3-point line.

Angola built a 44-27 lead after three quarters Nov. 27 and held on for a 58-45 Northeast Corner Conference victory at Fairfield.
The team statistics were very even as Fairfield shot 49 percent (17 of 35) while Angola was 42 percent (20 of 48). But the Hornets benefited from a sizzling 12-of-13 night (92 percent) at the free throw line compared with 9 of 15 (60 percent) for the Falcons.
Senior Rachel Rinehart paced Angola (7-0 overall, 4-0 in league play) with 22 points, five steals, and four assists, while classmate Kylie Bidlack had 11 point and seven rebounds.
Haley Brown just missed a double-double for Fairfield (2-2, 2-1) with 20 points and nine rebounds, while junior Jenna Kieper added eight points.

A 12-2 third quarter signaled doom for Churubusco Nov. 27 as the Eagles saw a 15-9 halftime lead evaporate on the way to a 33-27 loss to host Adams Central (2-2).
Senior Savannah Labenz led Churubusco (2-5) with nine points, while sophomore Montana Martin flirted with a double-double with eight points and 11 rebounds.
