Bulldogs enter new District 11-5A
February 16, 2014By gary pina of North Dallas High School Booster Club
Athletic director and basketball coach Carlton Dixon is very happy with the move to District 11-5A with new opponents.
“Yes, I absolutely love the new district,” Dixon said in an email. “It is more balanced, and works better geographically as well.”
The UIL announced its realignment Feb. 3, and North Dallas will include Thomas Jefferson, Woodrow Wilson, Hillcrest and Bryan Adams.
“I like it a lot. It will give us a chance to really compete and be exposed to some new places and different crowds,” Dixon said.
Dixon said the ND football, basketball and track & field programs should benefit from the new district. In the current 11-4A, ND is a strong contender in wrestling, soccer and baseball.
Asked what he will miss most about the old district opponents, Dixon responded, “nothing.”
The new district will include driving to Carrollton, Dixon said, but “other than that, we will do the same amount of traveling.”
“They always have tremendous programs out there,” Dixon said of the Carrollton schools. “Their facilities are great, they have a good fan base and it will be awesome for our kids to be a part of.”
Starting with the 2014-15 school year, the district will include these teams, shown with enrollment numbers.
