Ivan, Marvin, Daniela and Clare lead Bulldogs swimmers

North Dallas will be sending nine boys and 13 girls to the Region 4, District 13 swim meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at Loos Natatorium in Dallas.
Swim coach Chris Barnhill has high hopes for this meet. He expects to score points from his relay teams.
“This year, we might get second,” he said of the girls team. He predicts the boys team might get third.
Barnhill said the team has been doing great.
“We swam in seven swim meets so far,” he said. “The city meet was the only meet that points were given at. The girls came up with a total of 94 points, and the boys came up with 118.5 points. ”
The Bulldogs will be competing against Woodrow Wilson, Bryan Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Samuel, Lincoln, Conrad, Hillcrest and Spruce at the district meet.
Leading the boys team will be Ivan A. Rodriguez, a junior who will be competing in the 200 freestyle, 500 freestyle, the butterfly in the 200 medley relay and anchor on the 400 free relay; and Marvin Tran, a third-yearsenior who will be competing in the 200 free, 100 backstroke, the 400 free relay and the backstroke in the medley relay.
Leading the girls team will be junior Daniela Chaparro, who will be competing in the 200 individual medley, 100 breaststroke, 400 free relay and medley relay; and junior Clare Kimber, who will be competing in the 100 butterfly and medley relay.
The top finishers will advance to the regional meet in early February in Lewisville.
Barnhill has been pleased with his team’s progress this season. He pointed out Jimmy Nguyen who “didn’t know how to swim in September” but will be competing in the 50 free and 200 free at the district meet.
