Home » General NewsLady Bulldogs grow on the volleyball, play Molina on TuesdayOctober 23, 2012 North Dallas High School Booster ClubWatching her players warm-up before a recent game, volleyball coach Alana Cummings sees a team that has been learning with each game. She points out that only two players on the court played on the varsity team last year. She has four sophomores on this year’s nine-player team. With a 5-8 record in District 11-4A, the Lady Bulldogs’ streak of advancing to the playoffs for the past six years in a row may not happen this year. The Lady Bulldogs have one game remaining against District 11-4A leader Molina at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Molina. Cummings also coaches the girls junior varsity, and said it has been difficult to have time to work with each girl. She said she has been pleased to watch the players “improve” over the season. “I enjoy watching the girls grow,” she said via email, “and develop on and off the court into responsible young ladies with a purpose driven life.” Seniors Kawanka Wallace and Alexis Martinez are the leaders on this year’s team, Cummings said via email. “These two young ladies know and love the game,” she said. “They both are skilled players on the court, and are A-B honor roll students in the classroom.”
