MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The Northampton baseball team exploded for 6 runs in the top of the 1st inning vs. Jamestown Community College (NY) on Wednesday and then cruised to a 6-0 victory to improve to 5-3 on the season. Colby Kulig hit a grand slam to highlight the 6-run first inning and Kyle Farnholtz (2-1) threw a complete game 4-hitter, striking out 6 and walking none as the Spartans won their 4th game of the trip. Tyler Ruoss was 2 for 3 with a run scored and a RBI for NCC. Linescore - Game 1
In game two, Colby Kulig stayed hot at the plate, going 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored, a stolen base and a RBI as the Spartans downed Ancilla College, 11-4, to finish their trip with a 5-2 record and improve to 6-3 overall. The Spartans jumped on Ancilla with 4 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning and added 6 more in the 5th. Preston Koehler was 2 for 4 with a RBI and a double and Mike Agosto was 2 for 3 to lead the Spartan attack. Nick Hoffman (1-0) earned his first victory, pitching 5 innings, allowing 8 hits and 4 runs while striking out 3. Tyler Zimmerman came on in relief and allowed only 1 hit over 2 innings while fanning 2. Linescore - Game 2
Northampton will return to action on Sunday when they host Broome Community College (NY) in a doubleheader starting at noon.
