Spartans Down Cuyahoga Community College 13-2

MYRTLE BEACH, SC - Jon DeJesus ripped a single to centerfield in the top of the 4th inning, scoring what proved to be the winning runs as Northampton defeated Division II Cuyahoga Community College (OH), 13-2, on Monday at the Ripken Experience.

DeJesus finished 2 for 3 with 2 RBI and Mike Agosto was 2 for 3 with 3 RBI as Northampton pounded out 14 hits in the victory.

Cuyahoga took an early 1-0 lead with a run in the bottom of the first, but Northampton battled back with two in the second, five in the third to take a commanding 7-1 lead.

Kyle Farnholtz (1-1) earned the victory, going 4 innings, allowing 5 hits and striking out 1.

Carlos Urena (2 for 5, 2 RBI) plated two runs in the 6th inning with a triple that scored Agosto and Tommy Agosta (2 runs scored).

The game was called after 6 innings due to the 10-run mercy rule after 5 innings that is utilized at the Ripken Experience.

Northampton returns to action on Tuesday when they face Danville Area CC at 1pm and Carl Sandburg College at 4pm.
