D’Jayvon Heyward will be attending Carolina Prep Academy in Salisbury, N.C. for his upcoming senior season. Heyward spent last season at Holcombe L. Rucker School of Community Research located in Bronx, N.Y.

CPA is designed to prepare young men for college academics, while competing at a high level. CPA challenges its student athletes with college-level curriculum and college-style workouts. As part of the team, Heyward will be competing against other prep schools, JUCOs and even college JV teams.

The school has been open nearly two years and is quickly gaining exposure with talented athletes such as Heyward enrolling. With CPA, Heyward will participate in several national showcases this season.

Heyward was informed about CPA by his former AAU coach. Heyward was immediately interested, especially when he learned it was in North Carolina. Heyward has family and friends in North Carolina, and said he likes the people.

Heyward said he wanted to transfer to help get his name out. While at Rucker, he gained attention from Pittsburgh and St. John’s and several surrounding Division 3 schools.

Heyward most recently averaged 15 points, three rebounds and four assists a game with the Bronx Sharks. Heyward plans to play the remainder of the summer for the 16 and under New York Gauchos in the Gun Hill Basketball Classic, prior to the CPA season.
